Team Earth Photo Contest

Written by Chris Coletta | April 16th, 2010 | Add a comment

Those of you who have perused these pages know that, like Bruce Willis and Jean-Claude Van Damme, Team Earth is all about action.

Of course, most Team Earth members aren’t movie stars fighting off German terrorists or competing in deadly martial-arts tournaments. But we’re performing real, important actions all the same – the sort of smart, sustainable actions we can all take to make sure humans have a healthy word to live in.

It’s with that principle in mind that we’re happy to announce the first-ever Team Earth photo contest, which is all about people taking action.

If you’re interested, check it out (this is a direct link; you can also go through our Facebook page). You’ll find rules, explanations of how to sign up, the whole shebang.

But basically, from now through the end of the month, we’re asking you, or anyone you know, to submit photos of people taking action for the environment. Going to an Earth Day event? Take some pictures. Doing a stream cleanup? Take some pictures. Catch someone on the street picking up some trash? Take some pictures. Then submit them to the contest. They don’t have to be immaculate or well-lit or anything like that; they just need to be pictures of people doing cool things, pictures that can inspire others to do their part.

On May 1, we’ll close submissions and let the Team Earth community vote for their favorites. On May 12, we’ll announce 10 winners, with the picture that receives the most votes getting our grand prize: a $50 Starbucks card (made from 80 percent post-industrial recycled materials, of course).

So get out your cameras, or your cell phones, or whatever else you own that takes photos – and hop to it.
