Tips for Planting Trees

Written by Alex MacLennan | March 22nd, 2010 | Add a comment

Just like there’s more than one way to skin a cat, there are multiple options for the Team Earth member who’s ready to plant a tree.

For lots of people, it’s as simple as picking up a sapling at the local garden center and digging a hole in your backyard. Millions of us, however, don’t have that option, and since our goal at Team Earth is to unite individual actions with communal impact, we’ve got a few types of opportunities to share.

Check out the resources below for opportunities – from colleges to communities to National Forests across the United States – to plant trees, rally action, and make the world just a little bit greener than it was before.

Help the Arbor Day Foundation make your college, or the college near your home, greener through Tree Campus USA;

Read success stories about urban forests and learn tips to bring forest canopies to your city; and

Discover the National Forest Foundation’s Tree for Me program – an easy way to help restore National Forests in four sites across the United States.

Then come back to teamearth.com and pledge to Plant a Tree today!

Team Earth (and a lot of other resources) have a lot to say about the value of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and other energy-efficient alternatives to traditional light bulbs…But how do you decide if they’re right for you?

Simple: find out more. Check out our overview of the issue today, or if you want to back up your research even more, ask the EPA!
