Last month, in honor of Earth Day and in recognition of the fact that Team Earth exists in order to spur action, we put together a photo contest. The goal: Get pictures of people doing stuff for the Earth.
The response was awesome. More than 80 people submitted their photographs to us.
Now, check out the winning photo from Mary Jo Marroquin of Doral, Fla.
Mary Jo, a teacher at a Montessori school, has this to say about her photo of kids learning how to plant seeds: “I know that our future lies in the minds and hands of our kids. That’s why if we teach them how to grow and take care of our natural resources, we can have hope for the outcome of our world in the future: greener, better, and healthier!”
You can also check out a gallery of some other great photos that people submitted:
Congratulations to Mary Jo, who’s won a $50 Preservation gift card from Starbucks. And congratulations to all the Team Earth members who sent us inspiring pictures of people taking action for the planet. Together, we can make a difference.
